Turkish Aerospace has reached a technical milestone in its fifth-generation fighter program, with the P1 prototype successfully completing its first low-speed taxi test at facilities in Ankara. This development represents a move toward expanding the platform’s flight test campaign using airframes refined from data collected during earlier trials.
The P1 prototype is the first of two new aircraft built to support rigorous system-level testing. While the initial P0 demonstrator validated basic flight control systems and platform characteristics in 2024, the P1 and P2 prototypes incorporate structural and system feedback from those early sorties. Turkish Aerospace leadership anticipates that P1 will conduct its maiden flight within the coming months, with the P2 airframe joining the flight test schedule before the end of the year.
The program maintains its target for initial deliveries to the Turkish Air Force by 2028. Recent progress has been supported by the authorization of GE Aerospace F110 engine sales. With these engines secured for both testing and future serial production, the manufacturer continues to work toward the delivery of the first Block 10 aircraft.
