Uganda Airlines has reached an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of ten aircraft, valued at $985 million. The deal, finalized on June 10, 2026, includes two converted freighters and eight passenger jets. The acquisition represents a significant move for the carrier as it seeks to strengthen its position as a regional aviation hub.
The order includes one Boeing 767 Converted Freighter and one 737 Boeing Converted Freighter. While the carrier has not officially confirmed the specific models for the passenger portion of the order, reports suggest the commitment involves a mix of 787 Dreamliners and 737 MAX aircraft. This shift suggests a transition away from the airline’s current mixed-type fleet, which features Airbus and Bombardier equipment, toward a more standardized Boeing-centric operation.
Government officials stated that the expansion is intended to bolster trade, tourism, and connectivity across African and international markets. Beyond the hardware, the agreement includes provisions for technical expertise, pilot training, and capacity-building initiatives. By integrating these new assets, the airline aims to support Uganda’s long-term economic development goals and enhance its cargo handling capabilities.
