Department of War Launches Public UAP Archive

The US Department of War has launched the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), a new initiative aimed at providing public access to government records regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena. The first tranche of documents was published on May 8, 2026, following a presidential directive issued earlier this year.

The archive consists of a wide range of reports and imagery, including archival data from Apollo-era lunar missions and recent infrared captures from military and law enforcement operations. Notable records include sightings documented by the FBI over the western United States, as well as military reports from regions including the Middle East, Africa, and the Indo-Pacific theater.

Government officials state that the archive is intended to increase transparency regarding cases where authorities could not reach a definitive conclusion. The Department of War is coordinating this effort alongside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office.

While the publication offers a consolidated resource for researchers, former AARO leadership has noted that many UAP reports often stem from sensor artifacts or insufficient data. The Department of War intends to update the public archive with additional document tranches every few weeks.
