Turkish Airlines has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with CFM International to secure more than 300 LEAP-1B engines. This agreement supports the airline’s recent procurement of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which includes 100 firm orders and 50 options.
Beyond the engine acquisition, the deal establishes a framework for long-term service support covering the carrier’s entire LEAP-1B fleet. This arrangement encompasses existing engines, future deliveries, and those operated by its subsidiary, AJet. The agreement aims to enhance operational efficiency and maintain consistency across the airline’s narrowbody operations.
A significant component of the MOU includes a material services agreement designed to assist in the development of a local engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility in Turkey. This infrastructure investment aligns with the airline’s strategy to internalize more technical support capabilities.
The agreement was finalized in Istanbul by leadership from Turkish Airlines, CFM International, and Turkish Technic. By standardizing service support for over 600 engines, the carrier intends to manage its long-term maintenance costs and improve fleet reliability as it continues its network expansion.
