The pending acquisition of Clay Lacy Aviation’s aircraft management and charter division by Solairus Aviation is proceeding toward a late September close. According to company leadership, more than 80% of current Clay Lacy aircraft owners have already agreed to transition their assets to the Solairus operating certificate.
This consolidation marks a significant shift in the private aviation landscape. Solairus, which currently ranks as the seventh-largest U.S. operator by charter and fractional hours, stands to climb the industry rankings. When incorporating Part 91 flight activity, the combined entity aims to strengthen its position among the top tier of global management firms.
The transition involves complex logistical hurdles, specifically the migration of aircraft under Part 135 oversight. Both companies are coordinating closely with the FAA to ensure a smooth transfer of the fleet. Approximately 60 support personnel from Clay Lacy are slated to join the Solairus team to assist with the integration.
Despite intense competition for client retention following the initial announcement, leadership expressed confidence in the current commitment levels. Clay Lacy will continue to operate its existing FBO and maintenance, repair, and overhaul business units independently.
