The U.S. Coast Guard is currently leading a search for an Ontario-registered Gulfstream G100 air ambulance that vanished while en route from Bermuda to Boston Logan International Airport. The aircraft, operated by Hamilton-based Latitude Air Ambulance, lost contact with ground controllers early Saturday morning.
According to flight operations officials at Latitude, the aircraft was transporting six individuals, including four Canadian crew members and two passengers. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a search and rescue alert at 1:20 a.m. ET after the jet failed to reach its destination. Current efforts are focused on waters off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, involving multiple air and surface assets, including Coast Guard crews from Cape Cod.
The Gulfstream G100 is widely regarded for its performance in the mid-size jet category, particularly for its reliability in medical evacuation missions. Latitude Air Ambulance maintains a fleet that includes four of these aircraft. Both Canadian and Bermudan government officials are currently collaborating with U.S. authorities to assist in the recovery mission. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has confirmed it is gathering information to assess the circumstances surrounding the flight.
