Corendon Airlines Flight Declares False Hijack Alert Following Radio Malfunction

A Corendon Airlines Boeing 737-800 initiated a security alert on Tuesday that temporarily suspended operations at Nuremberg Airport. The aircraft, flying from Corfu, transmitted a 7500 transponder code while in Croatian airspace, signaling an unlawful interference event.

Corendon Airlines attributed the incident to a technical malfunction within the aircraft’s radio communication system that prevented contact with air traffic control. The failure triggered standard security protocols, leading German authorities to scramble Eurofighter jets to intercept the flight as a precautionary measure.

Despite the high-level security response, the aircraft continued its route and landed safely at its destination. The airline stated that at no point were passengers, crew, or the airframe in actual danger. The incident follows a series of recent security challenges for German aviation, including unrelated drone sightings reported at the same airport earlier that day.

Normal flight operations at Nuremberg were restored shortly after the aircraft touched down. There were no reports of injuries or structural damage to the Boeing 737-800 involved in the flight.
