Boeing Cleared to Boost 737 Production to 47 Monthly

Boeing has reached a major operational milestone as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officially authorized an increase in the 737 production rate to 47 aircraft per month. CEO Kelly Ortberg confirmed the news during the Bernstein Annual Strategic Decisions Conference, stating that the manufacturer is now moving to stabilize this new output level.

This transition follows a period of strict oversight and capped production that limited the manufacturer to 38 and later 42 jets per month. The move to a 47-per-month cadence represents a critical step in the company’s efforts to return to its previous manufacturing capacity.

FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford expressed confidence in the company’s progress and indicated that further rate increases could follow in the coming months. Looking ahead, leadership aims to reach a production target of 52 units monthly, with eventual plans to climb toward 63 aircraft per month.

To support these industrial ambitions, the manufacturer is preparing to open a fourth 737 production line in Everett, Washington. This facility will serve as a key component in the firm’s strategy to normalize and scale operations after years of supply chain and regulatory challenges.
