Airbus Reports Q3 Profit Dip Amid Slower Aircraft Deliveries

Airbus has reported a nine percent decline in third-quarter adjusted EBIT, with earnings falling to 1.77 billion euros. The manufacturer attributed this performance to lower commercial aircraft delivery volumes and a less favorable product mix across its commercial and helicopter divisions.

Production challenges notably impacted the A330neo and A321neo programs during the period. Quality concerns temporarily stalled A330neo handovers during mid-summer, while a separate quality issue hindered the A321neo line in September. These factors, compounded by the integration of Spirit AeroSystems work packages, have pressured output throughout the third quarter.

Evaluating Year-End Targets

Despite these headwinds, Airbus remains committed to its original guidance of 870 commercial deliveries for 2026. To reach this figure, the company must deliver 323 aircraft in the final three months of the year, averaging 108 units per month. While this represents a significant increase over recent monthly performance, management points to historical trends where year-end output often surges. Whether the supply chain can sustain this rapid pace remains a critical metric for operators and market watchers monitoring the manufacturer’s operational recovery.
