Airbus has announced that Bangkok will serve as the regional headquarters for its Skywise digital aviation unit. The decision, confirmed by Thailand’s Board of Investment following discussions with Airbus Thailand leadership, highlights a strategic move to centralize digital support and technical operations for the Asian market.
The Skywise platform focuses on advanced airline software, including flight data analytics, safety management, predictive maintenance, and crew scheduling. By establishing this hub in Thailand, Airbus aims to streamline the delivery of these digital tools to operators throughout the region.
This initiative coincides with a broader expansion of the manufacturer’s local footprint. The company has grown its Thai workforce to over 200 employees, with plans to increase hiring for software and engineering roles throughout the year. The move also aligns with Thailand’s increasing focus on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, as well as the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The expansion leverages existing industry ties in Thailand, where Airbus already supports over 150 commercial aircraft. The company plans to further integrate local expertise into its global aircraft component supply chain and continue collaborative programs in satellite technology and defense maintenance.
