Qatar Airways has reached a significant milestone in its inflight connectivity strategy, confirming that 150 of its widebody aircraft are now equipped with Starlink satellite technology. The carrier is currently working toward full integration across its Boeing 787 fleet, with a target completion date set for the end of 2026.
The technical rollout represents a complex logistical achievement for the operator. Qatar Airways completed the installation process for its Boeing 777 fleet in nine months, followed by an eight-month turnaround for its Airbus A350 aircraft. The Boeing 787 program is now more than 83 percent complete, according to recent company data.
This satellite infrastructure supports speeds up to 500 Mbps, enabling high-bandwidth activities for passengers. The transition highlights the shift toward satellite-based systems capable of managing consistent, high-speed data across global routes. Since the program’s inception in October 2024, the airline reports that over 23 million passengers have accessed the network. While the service is standard across the updated fleet, the airline notes that gate-to-gate functionality remains subject to local airport regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions.
