To secure certification, the MAX 7 required specific enhancements mandated by the agency. These include comprehensive updates to flight control software and the flight crew alerting system. Additionally, Boeing completed a redesign of the engine anti-ice system to address concerns regarding potential engine overheating.
The aircraft has been a focal point for fleet planning at carriers like Southwest Airlines, which originally expected to induct the model into service years ago. With the airworthiness certificate now in hand, Boeing and its operators are beginning the process of integrating the aircraft into operational schedules.
This milestone is a significant step for Boeing, as the manufacturer typically realizes the majority of an aircraft’s value upon delivery. The company currently holds a backlog of approximately 40 units of the 737-7 and MAX 10 variants in inventory.
