The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises has announced the cancellation of the 2026 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT). The event was scheduled for July 17-19, 2026, at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.
Organizers confirmed the decision follows extensive consultations with the Royal Air Force and the US Air Force. The facility remains restricted due to its role as a forward operating base for Operation Epic Fury. Since March 2026, the airfield has hosted B-1B Lancer and B-52H Stratofortress aircraft conducting regular sorties. The ongoing requirement for ramp space and munitions handling facilities precludes the hosting of the international airshow.
This marks the first cancellation of the event since 2021. The 2026 show was intended to feature a Fighter Meet theme. According to the official statement, organizers are currently coordinating with ticketholders, with notifications expected by the end of May 2026.
Plans for the 2027 edition are already underway. Officials stated that RIAT 2027 is intended to return to RAF Fairford, though they are evaluating potential alternative venues should current geopolitical conditions impact site availability next summer.
