A man was shot and injured by a police officer at Toronto Pearson International Airport’s Terminal 1 on Thursday morning, leading to a significant emergency response that disrupted operations at Canada’s busiest airport. The incident occurred just before 7 a.m., with witnesses reporting multiple gunshots near pillars 14 and 15 outside Terminal 1.
As a result of the shooting, Terminal 1 was placed on lockdown, and Peel Police arrived on the scene with over 30 cruisers. Officers were seen performing CPR on the critically injured man. Due to the highway closure, travelers were forced to walk to the terminal.
Peel Police confirmed that the victim is a man but did not disclose his age or the severity of his injuries. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is currently investigating the incident, and authorities have reported no ongoing threat to the public.
This incident has caused major disruptions at Toronto Pearson Airport, with traffic rerouted and roads to Terminal 1 closed.
